April 2, 2026: Nursing and paramedical students at B. J. Government Medical College in Pune staged a protest highlighting multiple concerns related to hostel administration, including alleged harassment by wardens, restrictive regulations, and inadequate living conditions. The demonstration brought attention to student welfare issues within one of Maharashtra’s prominent government medical institutions.

According to the protesting students, strict curfew timings remain one of the most pressing concerns. They argue that the current restrictions do not align with the demanding schedules of medical and paramedical education, which often require late-night study sessions, hospital duties, and clinical rotations. Students emphasized that such rigid rules create unnecessary stress and hinder their academic performance as well as professional training.

In addition to curfew-related issues, students raised allegations of harassment and excessive monitoring by hostel wardens.
