The Haji Ghulam Mohammed Azam Education Trust (HGMAET) has urged authorities for a fair investigation into the Bhavani Peth incident, claiming the official FIR contradicts the actual sequence of events recorded.
Pune | May 13, 2026: The Haji Ghulam Mohammed Azam Education Trust (HGMAET) has formally requested a transparent and evidence-based examination of the recent confrontation at Bhavani Peth. The trust expressed deep concern over the First Information Report (FIR) filed recently, asserting that the allegations do not align with the events witnessed by its members or the public statements made by the late Mr. Shahid Inamdar prior to his passing.
The dispute erupted on Sunday morning when recently elected HGMAET trustees visited their property at CTS No. 646 for a routine review of records and security arrangements. According to the trust, they were unexpectedly blocked from entering their own building, leading to a verbal spat and a physical scuffle. HGMAET clarified that there was never any intent to encroach upon the adjacent Golden Jubilee Education Trust property (CTS No. 647), and the visit was strictly institutional.

The situation took a complex turn following the death of Mr. Shahid Inamdar. HGMAET pointed out that while Mr. Inamdar had filmed a Facebook Live video outside the police station discussing the argument, no FIR was lodged at that time. The trust expressed “genuine surprise” that a criminal case was initiated only after his unfortunate demise, containing details that allegedly clash with Mr. Inamdar’s own live broadcast. Furthermore, the trust challenged claims of missing materials, noting that no specific inventory of loss was communicated to them before the FIR.
“We are saddened by the loss of Mr. Inamdar and respect his family’s grief,” stated Irfan Shaikh, a trustee of HGMAET. “However, the current narrative being presented is confusing. We were stopped from entering our own school building, which we have always accessed. We now request that the police verify all property documents, timelines, and video evidence before drawing any conclusions.” The trust has pledged full cooperation with the legal process to ensure a factual resolution.
