Maratha quota activist Manoj Jarange Patil has announced a fresh indefinite hunger strike starting May 30 in Antarwali Sarati to press for pending reservation demands.

May 18, 2026 | Vadigodri: Renowned Maratha quota activist Manoj Jarange Patil has sounded the battle cry for the next phase of the reservation movement. Speaking to the media on Saturday, he announced his decision to launch a fresh indefinite hunger strike from May 30 at Antarwali Sarati in Jalna district, aimed at forcing the state government to fulfill all pending demands of the Maratha community.

Jarange Patil issued a passionate appeal to the Maratha community across Maharashtra, urging citizens not to remain at home but to gather in massive numbers at the protest site on the very first day of the agitation. Directing his criticism toward Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, the activist stated that the upcoming demonstration would be so overwhelming that the administration would see nothing but Maratha protestors on all sides. He emphasized that the government had already been granted an extensive eight-month window to implement the promises but failed to deliver.

The primary demands of this renewed agitation center around the immediate issuance of Kunbi caste certificates to the 58 lakh individuals whose historical records have already been verified. Additionally, Jarange Patil demanded the prompt issuance and implementation of Government Resolutions (GR) concerning the princely states of Satara, Kolhapur, Pune, Miraj, and Aundh, modeled on the 1994 framework.

Expressing deep resentment over administrative delays, he noted that despite official assurances to release the directives within a month, three-quarters of a year had passed without concrete action. This upcoming protest is expected to significantly alter the political and social landscape of the state.
