Podar International School Bus Hits BRT Divider in Kalewadi; Driver Taken to Hospital

A Podar International School bus hit a BRT divider near Tapkir Chowk in Kalewadi after the driver reportedly felt dizzy. No students were on board.

PUNE: A bus belonging to Podar International School crashed into a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) lane divider near Tapkir Chowk in Kalewadi on Monday afternoon, October 12, after the driver reportedly felt dizzy and lost control of the vehicle.

Fortunately, no students were on board at the time of the accident. The bus was returning after dropping students at their homes, and only the driver and a female staff member were travelling in it. No injuries were reported in the incident.

Driver Reportedly Felt Dizzy

The accident occurred at around 2:15 pm. According to police, the driver felt dizzy before losing control and hitting the divider. The impact was strong enough to leave the bus on the BRT lane divider.

The driver was taken to a hospital for treatment and medical examination. Police said the medical assessment would help establish the possible cause of his dizziness. The exact reason for the episode remains unclear.

Crane Used to Remove Bus

A crane was deployed to remove the damaged bus from the divider. The incident affected traffic movement in the area while the vehicle was being cleared and normal traffic flow was restored.

Police said no one sustained injuries, and the absence of students on board helped avert a potentially serious incident.
