Pune Police Register 11 Theft Cases in a Day; Property Worth ₹81.35 Lakh Reported Stolen

PUNE: Pune city police registered 11 theft cases on October 7, 2026, involving gold jewellery, cash, vehicles, mobile phones and construction material worth a combined ₹81.35 lakh, according to reports.
The cases included one two-wheeler theft, three three-wheeler thefts and seven other theft-related incidents. The largest reported loss involved approximately 41 tonnes of aluminium shuttering material allegedly stolen from a construction site.
Aluminium Shuttering Worth Over ₹81 Lakh Reportedly Stolen
In one of the major cases, a complaint alleged that around 41 tonnes of aluminium shuttering material belonging to Shapoorji Pallonji and Company Pvt. Ltd. had been removed from a construction project without permission. The material was valued at approximately ₹81.36 lakh, making it the biggest reported theft among the cases registered that day.
Gold Jewellery and Vehicles Among Other Losses
The incidents also included the reported theft of a gold mangalsutra worth around ₹60,000 during a Ganesh immersion procession, allegedly taking advantage of the crowd.
In another case, a woman reported that her motorcycle, valued at ₹30,000, had been stolen. A tempo worth approximately ₹1.10 lakh was also reported stolen after being parked near Kondhwa.
Other complaints involved gold ornaments allegedly stolen from a woman while she was getting off a PMPML bus, valuables taken from a car after its window was broken, and a purse reportedly stolen from an autorickshaw.
House Theft and Mobile Phone Snatching
Police also registered cases involving jewellery, cash and other valuables allegedly stolen from a house, along with a reported mobile phone snatching incident in which a Samsung S24 Ultra valued at ₹50,000 was taken by two unidentified persons riding a motorcycle.
The cases were registered at different police stations across Pune. Investigations are underway to identify those responsible and recover the reported stolen property.
The incidents highlight the range of theft complaints reported in the city, from personal belongings and vehicles to high-value construction material.
