A self-proclaimed godman in Pune has been booked for allegedly deceiving a woman of over ₹50 lakh, raising concerns over misuse of trust and emotional exploitation.

April 13 | Pune : In a shocking case from Pune, a self-proclaimed godman identified as Audumbar Manohar Gadde has been booked by police for allegedly cheating a woman of more than ₹50 lakh through false promises and manipulation. The case has once again highlighted the risks posed by individuals who misuse faith and personal trust for financial gain. According to police officials, the accused reportedly approached the woman by claiming he could help resolve her personal and marital issues while also promising a secure future. Over time, he is said to have gained her confidence and trust, gradually involving her in a series of financial transactions under various pretexts.

Investigations suggest that between May 2021 and March 2026, the accused allegedly maintained control over the victim through emotional influence and repeated assurances. He is also accused of pressuring her into making significant financial contributions, which eventually amounted to over ₹50 lakh. The complainant has further alleged that the accused frequently contacted her, called her to different locations, and created a situation where she felt compelled to comply with his demands. Authorities have also taken note of allegations of intimidation and coercive behaviour during the course of the interactions.

A case has been registered at Swargate Police Station under relevant sections of law, and a detailed investigation is currently underway to verify all claims and gather evidence. Police officials have assured that strict action will be taken based on the findings. The incident has triggered concern among citizens, drawing attention to the growing need for awareness and vigilance against fraudulent individuals who exploit vulnerable people under the guise of spirituality or personal guidance.

Experts advise the public to remain cautious, verify credentials, and avoid placing blind trust in individuals making extraordinary claims, especially when financial matters are involved.
