Pune, April 22, 2026: A series of theft and vandalism incidents in Kausar Baug has left residents обеспокоены after unknown miscreants targeted parked vehicles and stole batteries, raising fresh concerns over local security. The incidents were reported from the Kondhwa area, where several vehicles were found damaged.

According to local residents, multiple cars and two-wheelers parked in residential lanes were vandalised overnight, with thieves specifically removing batteries from the vehicles. In some cases, vehicle parts were damaged during the theft, leading to additional repair costs for owners. The pattern suggests that the thefts were planned and carried out systematically.

Residents expressed frustration over the recurring nature of such incidents, claiming that similar thefts have taken place in the past as well. They have raised concerns about inadequate night patrolling and lack of CCTV surveillance in certain pockets of the area, which makes it easier for miscreants to operate unnoticed.

Police officials have taken note of the incidents and have begun an investigation. Efforts are underway to review CCTV footage from nearby areas and identify the suspects involved. Authorities have also assured residents that patrolling in the locality will be intensified to prevent further incidents.

The theft of vehicle batteries has become a growing concern in several parts of Pune, as such components can be easily resold in the grey market.
