Pune to Witness 24-Hour Water Shutdown on April 16 for Major Maintenance Works Across City

Pune will face a complete 24-hour water supply shutdown on Thursday, April 16

14 April 2026 : Pune Municipal Corporation undertakes large-scale maintenance and repair work across multiple major water distribution centres in the city. The shutdown will begin at midnight and continue for an entire day, affecting water supply across several residential and commercial areas. According to civic officials, water supply restoration on Friday, April 17, may be delayed and is expected to resume with low pressure in many parts of the city as the system stabilises after the maintenance activity.

The planned work will be carried out at key water centres including Parvati, Lashkar, Warje, Wadgaon, Holkar, Bhama Askhed and Khadakwasla. The maintenance operations include pump servicing, repair of leakages, and other essential civil works aimed at improving the efficiency and reliability of Pune’s water distribution system. The shutdown is expected to impact a wide range of localities across central, south, east, and west Pune. Areas such as Sinhagad Road, Katraj, and nearby suburban regions are also likely to experience disruption in supply. Officials have cautioned that even after restoration, water availability may remain uneven in certain pockets due to network adjustments.

The Pune Municipal Corporation has appealed to residents to store sufficient water in advance and use it judiciously during the shutdown period. Citizens have also been advised to plan daily usage carefully to avoid inconvenience during the maintenance window. Authorities stated that the temporary disruption is necessary to carry out critical upgrades and ensure long-term improvement in water supply services. The civic body has assured that all efforts are being made to minimise inconvenience and restore normal supply as quickly as possible after completion of the scheduled work.
