Public darshan suspended from April 15 to july 31 as conservation project begins; daily pooja and rituals to continue under supervision of the temple trust and state archaeology officials.

Pune – April 14, 2026: The centuries-old Ranjangaon Mahaganpati Temple, a cherished shrine in the renowned Ashtavinayak circuit dedicated to Lord Ganesha, will remain closed to devotees from April 15 through July 31, 2026 as extensive conservation and restoration work continues under a government-led heritage development plan. This decision – part of a broader effort by the Maharashtra Archaeology Department working with the temple trust-comes after months of careful planning and ongoing structural repairs aimed at preserving the temple’s ancient architecture, improving onsite facilities, and enhancing long-term visitor experience.
The closure, formally approved by the Assistant Charity Commissioner of the Pune region, means that while daily rituals, pooja, and abhishek rites will still be performed inside the sanctum, public darshan and entry into the temple will not be permitted during this period. Only construction workers, authorised officials and trustees will have controlled access to the site to ensure safety and expedite the work. Authorities said the restoration efforts are essential to protect the historic shrine, strengthen its structural integrity and upgrade amenities for devotees who visit the temple from across India and abroad. Local residents and devotees have been urged to cooperate with the administration and support the timely completion of the project, which is expected to preserve one of Maharashtra’s most significant religious landmarks for future generations
