India’s badminton stars continued their dominant run at the Thailand Open in Bangkok, with P.V. Sindhu, Lakshya Sen, and the top-seeded duo of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty securing clinical victories to reach the quarterfinals.

Bangkok | May 15, 2026: The Indian contingent showcased exceptional form at the Thailand Open today, spearheaded by the world-class doubles pairing of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty. The top-seeded duo dispatched Malaysia’s Jeremy Woo and Haikal Muhammad in a swift 44-minute encounter. Displaying their trademark aggressive play, the Indians secured a spot in the final eight, where they are slated to face Japan’s sixth-seeded pair, Takumi Nomura and Yuichi Shimogami.

In the women’s singles category, double Olympic medalist P.V. Sindhu displayed absolute authority over Denmark’s Amalie Schulz. Sindhu wrapped up the match in just 28 minutes, at one point surging ahead with a consecutive seven-point streak in both games to leave Schulz without an answer. However, a formidable challenge awaits Sindhu in the quarterfinals as she prepares to face Japan’s third-seeded Akane Yamaguchi in what is expected to be a high-octane clash.

The men’s singles draw saw seventh-seeded Lakshya Sen dismantle China’s Zhu Xuan Chen in straight games. Sen’s relentless pace and pinpoint smashes prevented Chen from gaining any momentum throughout the match. While the top stars advanced, the Indian camp faced setbacks as veteran K. Srikanth and youngster Devika Sihag saw their campaigns end after losing their respective second-round matches.

As the tournament moves into the business end, all eyes remain on the remaining Indian contenders. Their performance in the quarterfinals will be pivotal in determining India’s podium prospects in Bangkok, with the “Sat-Chi” pair and Sindhu looking like strong title favorites.
