Smriti Mandhana Pulls Back From Wedding Plans After Father’s Health Crisis, Deletes All Wedding Posts
Cricketer Smriti Mandhana postpones her wedding with Palash Muchhal as her father is hospitalised; she deletes all wedding-related social media posts.
Mumbai | November 25, 2025: Indian women’s cricket star Smriti Mandhana has unexpectedly postponed her wedding with composer Palash Muchhal after a sudden health emergency in her family. The couple, who had planned an intimate ceremony, made the difficult decision amid her father’s serious medical scare. In a symbolic move, Smriti has also removed all her marriage-related posts from her social media profiles, fueling public curiosity and concern.
The wedding was scheduled for 23 November 2025 in Sangli, with close family and a few friends expected to attend. However, on the morning of the ceremony, Smriti’s father, Shriniwas Mandhana, experienced chest discomfort and was quickly hospitalised. According to her team, his condition required immediate medical attention, and doctors placed him under observation for a cardiac issue. In light of this, she made the call to postpone the wedding indefinitely.
Adding to the tension, Palash Muchhal was also admitted to hospital just a day later. Reports suggest he was treated for a viral infection aggravated by acidity. While his condition was described as not life-threatening, the timing of his own hospitalisation has raised eyebrows. He has since been discharged, but his health scare came amid a very emotional family moment.
Smriti’s Instagram feed has since undergone a major cleanse: all pre‑wedding videos, engagement snaps, and proposal reels have been taken down. Even the viral proposal — in which Palash had proposed at a stadium and she revealed her ring — is no longer on her profile. Several of her teammates, who had celebrated the engagement with her and shared it publicly, have also removed or archived related content.
One source close to the cricketer said she made the decision out of respect for her father. “She’s very close to him,” the person said. “Until he recovers, she doesn’t want to go ahead with the wedding.” Her manager echoed this, saying the family is in a “state of shock.” He requested fans and media to give them space, adding that Smriti’s father would remain under observation until he recovers fully.
The groom’s side has also appealed for privacy. Palash’s sister, singer Palak Muchhal, posted a short note on social media asking people to be considerate of the families during this sensitive time. She emphasized that the health of their loved ones takes priority right now.
Followers are reacting with a mix of empathy and speculation. Some fans have floated the idea of “nazar” (the evil eye), suggesting that too much social media attention might have invited bad luck. Others, though, are worried — especially since the wedding had already begun with pre-wedding festivities including mehendi, haldi, and a fun cricket match between two teams. The sudden halt has left many questions in the air.
Despite the speculation, there’s no public confirmation of a breakup. Insiders maintain that the decision is purely driven by concern for Smriti’s father’s health. No new wedding date has been announced, and everyone involved says their only priority for now is recovery.
