Pune | March 14, 2026: Union Minister and Pune Member of Parliament Murlidhar Mohol has announced that he will remain away from public engagements for about a month after undergoing surgery for a long-standing wrestling injury. The injury dates back nearly three decades to a wrestling bout in Kolhapur, which eventually forced him to give up the sport. Sharing the update through social media, Mohol said the injury had been troubling him for many years but he had continued to ignore it while focusing on his professional and political responsibilities. However, the pain reportedly intensified in recent months, making medical intervention unavoidable.

Despite the ongoing session of the Parliament of India and his demanding political schedule, Mohol decided to undergo the necessary surgical procedure after consulting doctors. He stated that prioritising treatment was essential to prevent the condition from worsening further. Mohol also expressed gratitude to well-wishers and supporters who have been sending messages following the announcement. He assured citizens that he would return to public service soon after completing the recovery period advised by medical experts.

The Pune MP has been actively involved in public outreach and political activities in recent months, making the announcement of his temporary break notable among supporters and political observers. According to Mohol, the surgery was successful and he is currently focusing on rest and rehabilitation to ensure a smooth recovery. He expressed optimism about resuming his duties soon and continuing his work for the people of Pune after regaining full health
