Wagholi Drug Bust: Pune Police Seize MD Worth ₹31.06 Lakh, Arrest Two Accused

Wagholi Police uncovered a drug racket in Wagholi, arresting two individuals and seizing 37 grams of MD along with vehicles and assets worth over ₹31 lakh during a targeted operation.

April 16 | Pune: In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, Pune Police arrested two individuals in Wagholi and seized Mephedrone (MD) along with vehicles and other assets collectively valued at ₹31.06 lakh. The operation, which began as a routine patrol, quickly escalated into a major drug bust, exposing a wider network.

According to police officials, the first accused was apprehended near Satav Vasti Road during a patrol when he attempted to flee on noticing the police presence. His suspicious behaviour prompted officers to intercept and search him, leading to the recovery of 5.004 grams of MD valued at ₹1.08 lakh, along with a four-wheeler. A case was registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. During interrogation, the accused revealed information about another individual involved in the racket. Acting on this lead, police tracked down and arrested the second आरोपी, from whom 8.007 grams of MD, a scooter, and a mobile phone were seized. Further investigation and search operations led to the recovery of an additional 23.002 grams of MD and a high-end car worth ₹20 lakh.

In total, police recovered 37.003 grams of MD and seized two cars, one scooter, and a mobile phone, taking the total value of the seizure to ₹31.06 lakh. The operation was carried out under the guidance of Additional Commissioner of Police (East Region) Manoj Patil, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 7) Somay Munde, and Assistant Commissioner of Police (Lonikand Division) Nutan Pawar, along with a dedicated team from Lonikand and Kharadi police stations. Police officials stated that further investigation is underway to identify other individuals linked to the drug supply chain and to dismantle the network operating in and around Pune.
