A 29-year-old security guard attacked a Virar family over online gaming debts. Police arrested him within 72 hours. Three family members were injured, highlighting the risks of gambling-related crimes.


Virar| October 10, 2025:In Arnala village, Virar, a shocking incident occurred when 29-year-old Dipesh Ashok Naik, a former Maharashtra Security Force (MSF) jawan, attacked three members of the Gowari family early on October 7, 2025.

Naik, who owed approximately 50 lakh due to online cricket betting, allegedly broke into the Gowari household intending to steal gold and other valuables. When discovered, he attacked Jagannath Gowari (76), Leela Gowari (72), and their daughter Netra (52), leaving them seriously injured.

The Mira Bhayandar-Vasai Virar (MBVV) crime branch led an intensive investigation, analyzing over 500 CCTV footages and technical data. Within 72 hours, police arrested Naik in Mumbai.

Naik confessed that financial pressure from gambling debts drove him to commit the attack. The victims are currently receiving medical treatment, and Naik has been remanded to police custody, pending a court hearing.

This incident highlights the dangers of online gambling and debt-driven crimes, underlining the need for awareness and preventive measures in urban communities.
