Ambernath|October 18, 2025: In a tragic turn of events, a young man from Ambernath, Aman Kori, lost his life due to rabies, two months after being bitten by a stray dog. The incident has drawn attention to the critical importance of timely medical intervention following animal bites.

Aman, a resident of Patel Prestige Society in Ambernath West, reportedly received only an initial injection after the dog bite and failed to complete the full course of post-exposure prophylaxis. He also did not inform his family about the bite, delaying appropriate care.

Over time, Aman began exhibiting alarming symptoms, including swelling in his leg and behavioral changes. His family initially mistook these signs for a stroke. Seeking alternative remedies, they even traveled to Hyderabad for Ayurvedic treatment, but his condition continued to deteriorate.

Upon returning to Ambernath, Aman was admitted to Kasturba Hospital, where medical tests confirmed he had contracted rabies. Unfortunately, by the time the diagnosis was made, it was too late for effective treatment, and he passed away.

Health experts stress that any animal bite, particularly from dogs, should be treated immediately with proper vaccination and follow-up doses. Rabies is almost always fatal once symptoms appear, making prevention through timely post-bite care crucial.

This unfortunate case serves as a stark reminder for the public to treat dog bites seriously, complete the recommended vaccination schedule, and seek immediate medical attention to prevent such preventable deaths.
