Pune, Oct 18, 2025 — Former corporator Amol Balwadkar has launched a new social initiative called “Our Marathwada Seva Sangh” in Pune, aimed at providing immediate assistance to citizens of Marathwada. The organization will work to support those affected by natural disasters and economic challenges, offering quick relief and financial help when needed. The initiative was inaugurated in the Baner-Balewadi area with the presence of senior minister Chandrakat Patil, who praised Balwadkar’s effort and announced that the state government would ensure full cooperation for Marathwada residents settled in Pune.

Speaking at the event, Balwadkar said the Sangh was created to serve as a bridge between the Marathwada community and Pune city. He emphasized that the Sangh would remain active throughout the year to provide help during crises, and not just in times of flood or drought. He also announced a partnership with Yogiraj Nagarik Sahakari Pat Sanstha, offering members access to loans up to ₹50,000 for emergencies or small-scale businesses.

Minister Chandrakat Patil highlighted that the Maharashtra government is committed to addressing the needs of Marathwada citizens, many of whom have migrated to Pune due to employment and education opportunities. He assured that immediate benefits under the Urban-Rural Health Scheme would be made available to Marathwada residents in the city.

The launch of the Sangh comes at a time when several parts of Marathwada have faced severe rainfall and flood damage. Many families have relocated to urban centers like Pune, struggling with housing and livelihood issues. The organization aims to provide these families with practical support, including financial assistance, healthcare coordination, and community rehabilitation programs.

According to sources close to the event, the Sangh distributed basic relief materials to more than 15,000 people from Marathwada during the launch. Balwadkar added that similar drives will be conducted every few months to ensure sustained help reaches the affected communities.

Amol Balwadkar, known for his civic work in the Baner-Balewadi region, said his focus remains on creating strong social networks that deliver real impact. He called on the youth and volunteers to join the Sangh and contribute to rebuilding Marathwada’s economy and social fabric.

The initiative is being seen as both a social and symbolic effort to strengthen ties between Pune and Marathwada, while providing a structured system of relief and assistance for those in need.
