Police Officer and Parents Booked for Assaulting Wife Over Love Marriage in Khadakmal Police Lines

A police constable and his parents have been booked for assaulting his wife over a love marriage. The incident occurred during Diwali at Khadakmal Police Lines in Pune.

Pune, October 23, 2025 – In a disturbing incident during the Diwali festivities, a police constable and his parents have been booked for assaulting his wife over a love marriage dispute. The incident occurred at the Khadakmal Police Lines in Pune, highlighting concerns about domestic violence within law enforcement families.

According to reports, the police constable, identified as Gajanan Gopaldas Tayde (28), married his wife, identified as Sushma (name changed), on September 7, 2022, against the wishes of his parents. The couple met through Facebook and decided to marry despite objections from Gajanan’s family. Since their marriage, Sushma has alleged that she faced continuous harassment and abuse from her husband and in-laws.

The situation escalated on October 19, 2025, when Sushma, who was unwell, requested her husband to take her to the hospital. In response, Gajanan reportedly assaulted her, causing injury to her waist. She was unable to move and had to call the police for assistance. Authorities arrived at the scene and took her to Sassoon Hospital for treatment.

Following the incident, Sushma filed a complaint with the Khadak Police Station, leading to the registration of a case against Gajanan, his father Gopaldas Tayde (53), and his mother Anjana Tayde (45). Assistant Police Inspector Alka Jadhav is currently investigating the matter.

This case has raised serious concerns about domestic violence within police families and the need for stringent measures to address such issues. The Pune Police Department has assured a thorough investigation and appropriate action against those found guilty.
