Mumbai | November 04, 2025: The State Election Commission has officially announced the schedule for local body elections across Maharashtra, setting the stage for a high-stakes democratic contest. Voting for 246 municipalities and 42 nagar panchayats will take place on December 2, while counting of votes and results will be declared the following day, December 3.

With this announcement, the model code of conduct has come into effect across the state from November 4. The term of 29 municipal corporations, 32 district councils, 42 nagar panchayats, 336 panchayat samitis, and 246 municipalities has already expired, prompting the need for phased elections.

According to the notification, nomination papers will be accepted from November 10 to November 17. Scrutiny of nominations will be conducted on November 18, and candidates will be allowed to withdraw their applications until November 21. Election symbols will be allotted on November 26.

The final voter list, published on October 31, shows that a total of 1,07,03,576 citizens are eligible to cast their votes across Maharashtra. To facilitate smooth polling, around 13,000 control units have been arranged.

Region-wise, 17 elections will take place in Konkan, 49 in Nashik, 60 in Pune, 52 in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, 45 in Amravati, and 55 in Nagpur division. This marks one of the most extensive local election exercises in recent years.

This year, the Election Commission has increased the expenditure limit for candidates. For Class A municipalities, the maximum campaign spending has been raised to ₹15 lakh, while for Class C municipalities, it is capped at ₹7 lakh.

Additionally, a new mobile application has been introduced to help voters find information about their polling stations and voter status. To prevent duplicate voting, names suspected of duplication have been marked with a double star, and such voters will be required to provide a special declaration before voting.
