On Sinhagad Road, Pune, a partially demolished bamboo hoarding remains, creating serious accident risks. Despite alerting PMC’s encroachment cell, administrative action remains incomplete.

Pune | November 13, 2025: On the busy Sinhagad Road, in the Dhayari area of Pune, a large illegal hoarding’s removal remains unfinished, leaving dangerous bamboo scaffolding and metal structures that threaten passers-by, residents say. The Pune Municipal Corporation’s encroachment department initiated action against the structure, but only the advertisement panel was removed. The supporting bamboo framework continues to stand, unanswered calls for full clearance notwithstanding.

Local activists report that polyester cloth advertising boards were stripped around two months ago, yet the “skeleton” of the structure was left unaddressed. With the rotting bamboo poles and exposed wires still in place above a footpath used by dozens, the risk of collapse or injury is high especially during monsoons.

Although the PMC’s own Executive Engineer flagged the danger and issued instructions, ground-level vigilance appears lacking. The article states that the demolition was incomplete and the department has not followed up to ensure safe removal, prompting residents to demand an urgent full take-down.

Inquiries reveal that foot-traffic on this stretch has already increased due to new commercial activity nearby, increasing the potential for an accident. Residents say that open drains and narrow sidewalks already restrict safe movement; the lingering structure compounds the hazard.

The PMC officials contacted noted that the site had been earmarked for full clearance, but cited equipment and manpower shortages as delaying factors. They assured a fresh inspection this week and threatened notice withdrawal and legal action against any party leaving unsafe structures.

Local civic groups warn that unless action is taken within days, they will escalate pressure, including lodging complaints and calling for compensation for any damage caused by the remaining structure.
