A 20-year-old woman died on the spot after a dumper ran over her in Jambe, Pimpri-Chinchwad. The driver fled the scene and police have launched a search.

Pimpri-Chinchwad,| Nov 17, 2025 –: A 20-year-old woman died in a horrific accident in the Jambe area of Pimpri-Chinchwad on Monday afternoon after a speeding dumper ran over her. The incident took place near Sawant Park Chowk around 1.15 pm, and the driver fled immediately after the collision. The deceased has been identified as Tanvi Siddheshwar Sakhare, a resident of MuktaNand Heights on Hinjewadi–Dange Chowk Road. The accident has triggered shock and anger among residents, who have been demanding stricter action against reckless dumper drivers in the area.

According to police information, Tanvi was travelling with her father Siddheshwar Laxman Sakhare on a two-wheeler through the New Circle area of Jambe. As they approached Sawant Park Chowk, their motorcycle was hit by a dumper bearing registration number MH 14 HU 9855. The impact caused Tanvi to fall under the rear wheels of the heavy vehicle, killing her instantly. Her father sustained minor injuries and was given first aid.

The driver abandoned the dumper and fled from the spot. Police have registered the case and launched a search operation. CCTV footage in the surrounding area is being examined and teams have been deployed to trace the absconding driver. Locals say that this is not an isolated case. Heavy vehicles, particularly dumpers, have caused several fatalities in the Hinjewadi region over the past few months. Residents allege that the lack of speed control and enforcement has allowed drivers to operate irresponsibly, putting ordinary commuters at risk.

Just a few weeks ago, citizens of Hinjewadi and nearby villages held a protest demanding better road safety and strict action against dumpers. They claim that despite repeated complaints, authorities have failed to implement effective measures. There are no dedicated speed checks, warning boards or traffic management systems in several high-risk zones. The latest accident has added to the growing frustration among the public.

The death of a young woman has once again highlighted the recklessness of heavy vehicle traffic in developing suburban belts like Pimpri-Chinchwad. The victim’s family is devastated as Tanvi was at the start of her adult life. The incident has sparked renewed calls for better policing, stricter licensing, speed restrictions and permanent regulations for dumper movement in residential and mixed-use areas.

Police officials have assured that the accused will be arrested soon and legal action will follow. They are also reviewing whether the vehicle was carrying excess load, speeding or violating any transport rules. Meanwhile, road safety activists have demanded immediate installation of speed breakers, cameras and strict route restrictions for heavy vehicles during peak hours.

Local residents are insisting that this case should not be treated like yet another routine accident. They want accountability and long-term solutions, not temporary checks. The Jambe-Hinjewadi stretch has become notorious for fatal accidents involving dumpers, and Monday’s incident has only deepened concerns.

Police are urging any eye-witnesses to come forward with information. The investigation is ongoing and authorities will release further updates after gathering evidence and tracking down the accused. For now, the tragic loss of Tanvi Sakhare stands as another reminder of how dangerous urban roads have become, and how urgently action is needed to prevent more needless deaths.
