Following a fatal crash, authorities have sealed several access roads near Navale Bridge and tightened safety enforcement — closing illegal entry points and redirecting local traffic to prevent further accidents.

Pune, 28 November 2025: Recent grave accidents on the Navale Bridge stretch prompted authorities to permanently close key access roads in the Narhe area near the bridge. Officials installed concrete and iron dividers, sealing off entry points from Manajinagar and surrounding neighbourhoods that previously allowed direct access to the highway.

In addition to the road closures, joint teams from the police, National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), regional traffic, and civic agencies have begun a crackdown on illegal vehicular entries, unauthorised mediaions by roadside shops and hotels, and other dangerous practices. Notices have already been issued to several establishments responsible for breaching the highway divider.

Authorities say these steps are part of a broader effort to curb repeated accidents at this notorious stretch, which has long been identified as a “black-spot” due to its steep slope, heavy traffic flow, and history of fatal crashes.

The new traffic configuration redirects local traffic onto service roads, aiming to reduce congestion and limit highway access to authorised vehicles only. Officials hope the measures, combined with stricter enforcement, will significantly improve safety for commuters and reduce the risk of further tragedies.
