A Class-8 student and national-level skater in Ratlam jumped from the third floor of his private school after repeated threats from school administration over a mobile phone violation. He’s now stable and police have launched an investigation.

Ratlam (Madhya Pradesh)|November 29, 2025: In a disturbing incident at a private school in Dongre Nagar, Ratlam, a 13-year-old Class 8 student  who was also a national-level skating athlete  attempted suicide by jumping from the school’s third floor on Friday. The boy was rushed to a private hospital and later referred for advanced treatment. His condition is now reported to be stable.

The chain of events began when the student brought his mobile phone to school on Thursday and recorded a classroom video, later uploading it on social media  a violation of school rules. The next day, the school called his parents to address the issue.

CCTV footage from the school captures the boy entering the principal’s office, where he spent nearly four minutes continuously apologising  reportedly saying “sorry” 52 times in fear. He later told his parents and authorities that the principal had threatened to “end his career,” suspend him, and confiscate his skating medals.

Moments later, the boy ran out and jumped from the building. Shockingly, his father was waiting in the school’s reception area at that time  unaware of what was happening just metres away.

The student had a promising skating career, having represented at national-level competitions multiple times. He was preparing for another championship when the incident occurred.

Local tribal youth organisations and community members have demanded immediate registration of a First Information Report (FIR) against school authorities for alleged cruelty and criminal intimidation. Police say they are investigating the matter under relevant child-protection and criminal-intimidation laws, and will also examine whether excessive pressure or harassment contributed to the student’s extreme action.
