Kalyan Political Worker Arrested After Months-Long Hunt for Rape, Blackmail Charges
After a 1.5-month police manhunt, Khadakpada police arrested political worker Vineet Gaikar for allegedly raping and blackmailing a 29-year-old woman using obscene videos.
Kalyan| December 1, 2025: A shocking crime in Kalyan has come to light: a 29-year-old woman accused political worker Vineet Gaikar of repeatedly raping her under the pretense of marriage, then secretly recording obscene videos and extorting her.
According to the complaint, Gaikar had promised the woman marriage but instead exploited her for months. When he produced intimate videos shot without consent, he turned to blackmail, threatening to leak them if she refused his demands.
The victim lodged a complaint at Khadakpada Police Station. Gaikar initially fled, but after a persistent 1.5-month pursuit, police set a trap in the Fadke Maidan area of Kalyan West and arrested him.
He has been remanded to police custody until December 3, while investigators now look into whether there are additional victims or related offences.
This case has stirred concerns about the misuse of political influence to exploit vulnerable individuals. Law-enforcement agencies and civil-society organisations are urging stricter vigilance and faster justice as the probe continues.
