CM Devendra Fadnavis announced the speedy completion of the Katraj-Kondhwa metro route, connecting Kondhwa to Purandar Airport, with Shivaji Nagar-Yewalewadi line also approved, enhancing Pune’s urban connectivity.


Pune | 16 December 2025: Pune is set to witness enhanced urban connectivity as Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced the completion of the Katraj-Kondhwa metro route, which will link the Kondhwa area with Purandar Airport. Speaking at the unveiling of a Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj equestrian statue in Kondhwa, CM Fadnavis highlighted that the metro work would be completed at the earliest, ensuring faster travel and better integration of Kondhwa with other parts of the city.

In addition, the Shivaji Nagar-Yewalewadi metro line has received official approval, further expanding Pune’s metro network and offering commuters greater ease of mobility. The proposed metro extension from Swargate to Katraj will provide seamless connectivity up to Kondhwa and Purandar Airport, making travel convenient for residents and travelers alike.

The announcement was made in the presence of key dignitaries including Higher and Technical Education Minister Chandrakant Patil, MLA Yogesh Tilekar, local leaders Bhimrao Tapkir, Sunil Kamble, and Chetan Tupe, along with officials from the Bhairavnath Gramvikas Mandal. CM Fadnavis emphasized that these infrastructure projects are aimed at strengthening Pune’s transport network, reducing travel time, and supporting the city’s long-term urban development plans.

The metro expansion is expected to boost economic activity, improve commuter convenience, and connect strategic locations, including the upcoming Purandar Airport. Residents of Kondhwa and surrounding areas are likely to benefit significantly, as the metro will enhance accessibility to key commercial and residential zones, reducing congestion on existing road networks.

With the government focusing on rapid implementation, these projects signal a major step in Pune’s transformation into a well-connected, modern city, reflecting the administration’s commitment to sustainable urban mobility.
