Pune | 18 December 2025: A high-value theft aboard the Bengaluru–Mumbai Udyan Express has been successfully solved by the Pune Railway Police, marking a significant breakthrough in crimes related to passenger trains. Valuables worth nearly ₹10 lakh were stolen during the journey, causing panic and concern among passengers, especially those travelling overnight on long-distance express trains. The incident took place when the Udyan Express halted at Pune railway station, after which a passenger discovered that a bag containing cash, gold ornaments, and other expensive belongings had gone missing. The complaint was promptly registered with the Railway Police, triggering a detailed investigation into the matter.

According to officials familiar with the probe, the theft was not random but appeared to be well-planned. The accused allegedly exploited moments of passenger inattention, overcrowding in coaches, and the confusion that typically occurs during station halts.
