Kolhapur, Maharashtra | December 19, 2025: In a shocking crime that has rattled Hupari in the Kolhapur district, police have arrested a man accused of killing his elderly mother and father early Friday morning. The incident came to light around dawn when the suspect reportedly appeared at the local police station and confessed to the killings.

Officials identified the accused as 48‑year‑old Sunil Narayan Bhosale. The victims are his mother, 70‑year‑old Vijaymala Narayan Bhosale, and his father, 78‑year‑old Narayan Ganpatrao Bhosale. Both victims were found dead at their home when police and forensic teams reached the scene.

According to preliminary information from the police, Sunil allegedly attacked his mother first, inflicting fatal wounds by cutting major blood vessels in her arms and striking her face. While his father was in an adjacent room, the accused reportedly struck him on the head from behind with a heavy wooden stick, causing immediate death.

After committing the murders, Sunil went directly to the police station, where he surrendered and reportedly admitted his involvement in the crime. Officers took him into custody without resistance and began formal proceedings to record his statement. Residents in the small community expressed shock and disbelief at the violence. Neighbours told reporters the family had lived quietly and there had been no prior public signs of serious conflict or disturbance. The suddenness of the crime has left locals stunned and concerned about safety in the area.

Police have cordoned off the Bhosale residence for forensic examination and are gathering evidence to support the next stages of the investigation. They have not publicly disclosed a motive as inquiries are ongoing. Officials say further details, including the accused’s statement and any relevant psychological or social factors, will be shared once verified.
