The Supreme Court granted bail to three accused in the Pune Porsche crash case and made strong observations holding parents responsible for accidents involving minors.

New Delhi | 03 February, 2026:The Supreme Court on Monday granted bail to three accused in connection with the 2024 Pune Porsche car accident case in which two software engineers lost their lives. While allowing the bail, the court made strong observations regarding parental responsibility in incidents involving minors.

A bench comprising Justice B. V. Nagarathna and Justice Ujjal Bhuyan granted bail to Aditya Avinash Sood, Ashish Satish Mittal and Amar Santosh Gaikwad, subject to strict conditions. The court directed that the accused must not attempt to contact any prosecution witness, either directly or indirectly, warning that any violation would lead to cancellation of bail.

During the hearing, the Supreme Court underlined that parents must be held accountable in cases where minors are involved in serious road accidents. The bench observed that while substance abuse is a separate issue, allowing children to drive cars and providing them money for recreational activities is unacceptable.

Amar Gaikwad had approached the Supreme Court seeking bail, following which the court had sought a response from the state government on January 23. The other two accused, Aditya Sood and Ashish Mittal, had also filed bail pleas.

The prosecution has alleged that blood samples of the accused were used in place of samples belonging to two minors involved in the incident. The case had drawn widespread attention due to the seriousness of the allegations and concerns over road safety and accountability.
