Pune | 24 February 2026: In a significant move to streamline vehicular flow and reduce road congestion, the Pune City Traffic Police is set to roll out a cutting-edge traffic management system called ‘Trafficure’, developed with integrated support from Google Maps. The innovative platform is designed to provide live updates on traffic conditions across major city roads, including slow-moving vehicles, emerging bottlenecks, and overall congestion levels, allowing authorities to respond swiftly to traffic challenges.

Officials explained that the system enables real-time monitoring of road conditions, helping traffic personnel regulate movement and ensure smoother vehicle flow during peak hours. Beyond immediate congestion relief, Trafficure is expected to identify accident-prone areas and intersections where traffic snarls are frequent. By leveraging live inputs from Google Maps, traffic management teams can deploy staff strategically and coordinate control measures more efficiently.

To enhance data accuracy, the city’s major roads have been divided into 550 segments for detailed monitoring and assessment. During a 45-day pilot phase conducted in January and February, average vehicle speeds on key routes were recorded at around 26.8 kmph, providing valuable baseline data for future traffic regulation efforts.

Following the pilot, a detailed project presentation was held at the Pune Police Commissionerate, where senior officials expressed confidence that adopting a technology-driven traffic system will improve commuter experience, reduce congestion levels, and enhance overall road safety in the city. The platform is expected to support data-driven decision-making, making Pune one of the first Indian cities to employ such a comprehensive, real-time traffic monitoring system.

As urban traffic continues to grow, the launch of Trafficure reflects Pune Police’s commitment to integrating smart solutions into traffic management. Authorities believe that the combination of live data analytics, strategic deployment of personnel, and technology-driven alerts will help prevent bottlenecks, reduce travel times, and promote safer commuting for residents.
