Nagpur recorded a maximum temperature of 37.6°C as early summer heat intensified across Vidarbha, with meteorological officials warning that temperatures may rise further in the coming days

Nagpur | 6 March, 2026: Summer has begun to tighten its grip across the Vidarbha region, with Nagpur recording a maximum temperature of 37.6 degrees Celsius, indicating a sharp rise in heat at the start of March. The sudden increase in temperature has signaled an early onset of intense summer conditions in central India.

According to weather observations, temperatures in the region have been rising steadily over the past few days. The mercury has already moved close to the 40°C mark in several parts of Vidarbha, including cities such as Amravati, Akola and Wardha, where residents are experiencing stronger heat during afternoon hours.
Meteorological experts say the rise in temperature is due to favorable atmospheric conditions that are currently intensifying heat across the region. With dry weather prevailing and clear skies dominating the forecast, the heat is expected to increase further in the coming days.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has indicated that Vidarbha may experience higher-than-normal temperatures during the summer season, with the possibility of more heatwave days between March and May. The department has advised citizens to take precautions as prolonged exposure to extreme heat can lead to dehydration and heat-related illnesses.
Across Maharashtra, Vidarbha is currently recording some of the highest temperatures, making the region one of the most heat-prone areas in the state during the early summer period. Authorities have urged residents to avoid stepping outdoors during peak afternoon hours, drink sufficient water, and take necessary health precautions.

Weather experts believe that if the current warming trend continues, temperatures in Nagpur and nearby districts could soon cross the 40°C mark, signaling a harsher summer ahead for the region.
