Higher ready reckoner rates and rising property transactions linked to development projects have pushed Maharashtra’s registration revenue close to ₹54,000 crore in 11 months, with authorities expecting the annual target to be achieved in March
Mumbai | 09 March, 2026: Maharashtra’s Registration and Stamp Duty Department has collected nearly ₹54,000 crore in revenue from property deed registrations during the first eleven months of the current financial year, reflecting a steady rise in real estate transactions across the state.

Official data shows that from April to the end of February, the department generated revenue of ₹53,893.81 crore through the registration of 41,28,771 property documents. This accounts for 84.87 percent of the annual revenue target of ₹63,500 crore set by the state government for the financial year 2025–26.
With the financial year nearing its end, the department now needs to collect around ₹10,000 crore in March to achieve the target. State Inspector General of Registration Ravindra Binwade expressed confidence that the remaining revenue will be achieved within the month.

Officials attribute the rise in revenue to increased real estate activity and the revision of ready reckoner rates implemented last year. Several infrastructure and development projects underway across Maharashtra have also contributed to higher property transactions and registrations.
Data from the Registration and Stamp Duty Department indicates that more than four lakh property documents were registered during each of the three months December, January and February. Additionally, between July and February, the department consistently recorded monthly revenues of around ₹5,000 crore.

Industry observers believe that the possibility of a further increase in ready reckoner rates by eight to ten percent this year has also encouraged property buyers to complete transactions earlier. This trend has been particularly visible in January and February, when registrations and revenue both saw a noticeable increase.
