Central Railway’s Pune Division celebrated International Women’s Day with awareness sessions on health, financial literacy and empowerment, along with yoga activities and cultural performances involving women employees across departments

Pune | 11 March, 2026: The Pune Division of Central Railway marked International Women’s Day 2026 with a series of awareness programmes, interactive sessions and cultural activities at the Divisional Railway Manager’s office on Monday. The event was organised in accordance with directives issued by the Railway Board and aimed at promoting the well-being and empowerment of women employees.

The programme brought together women staff members from various departments of the division, highlighting issues related to health, financial independence and personal development. Experts from different fields addressed participants through informative sessions designed to encourage a balanced and empowered professional life.Dietician Urvi Oza conducted a session on health and nutrition awareness, stressing the importance of maintaining a balanced diet, preventive healthcare practices and healthy lifestyle habits. The session focused on practical approaches to improving physical well-being among working women.

A financial literacy session was delivered by finance manager Smita Sovani, who spoke about the significance of financial planning, savings management and responsible investment strategies. The session aimed to help women employees make informed financial decisions and strengthen their economic security.

Public speaker and social activist Preeti Sakhre addressed participants on women’s empowerment, encouraging them to take leadership roles in both social and professional spaces. She emphasized confidence, self-growth and community support as essential elements of empowerment.The event also included a yoga and wellness session conducted by yoga teacher Abhishek Todkar Mali, who guided participants through techniques aimed at enhancing mindfulness, mental wellness and physical fitness.

Senior officials present included Divisional Railway Manager Rajesh Kumar Verma, Swati Verma, President of the Central Railway Women’s Welfare Organisation, Additional Divisional Railway Manager P. U. Jadhav, and Senior Divisional Personnel Officer Jitendra P. Singh. The programme concluded with a cultural presentation by the Pune Division cultural team featuring performances by women employees.
