Bomb Threat Email Triggers Security Scare at Key Mumbai Locations During Assembly Session
An anonymous email claiming bombs were planted at the state legislature, court, metro stations and financial institutions triggered a massive security alert in Mumbai, but extensive searches later confirmed the threat was a hoax.

March 13 | Mumbai : A major security scare unfolded in Mumbai on Thursday morning after authorities received an anonymous email claiming that bombs had been planted at several high-profile locations across the city, including the Maharashtra Vidhan Bhavan, the Bombay High Court, multiple Mumbai Metro stations and the Bombay Stock Exchange.The threatening email was reportedly received around 7 am when the Maharashtra legislature’s budget session was underway, triggering immediate security concerns. Police and security agencies launched a large-scale search operation across the mentioned locations to prevent any possible danger.

Bomb detection and disposal squads, along with dog squads and local police teams, thoroughly inspected the premises and surrounding areas. Security checks were intensified, and strict screening procedures were implemented before allowing anyone to enter the legislature complexAfter extensive searches lasting several hours, officials confirmed that no explosives or suspicious materials were found at any of the locations mentioned in the email. Authorities later declared the bomb threat to be a hoax but maintained heightened vigilance across the city.
The Mumbai Police have registered a case against an unidentified person for spreading panic through the anonymous email. The investigation is being jointly conducted by local police, the crime branch and the cyber cell to trace the sender and determine the motive behind the threat.Officials stated that such threats are taken very seriously, especially when they involve critical government buildings and financial institutions. Security agencies are now analysing digital evidence to identify the source of the email and bring those responsible to justice.
