Pune | 17 March, 2026: James Foster has been appointed as the new fielding coach of Chennai Super Kings ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 season, marking a key addition to the franchise’s support staff.

The 45-year-old former England wicketkeeper brings extensive coaching experience, having previously worked with Kolkata Knight Riders between 2020 and 2023. His appointment is seen as a strategic move by CSK as they look to bounce back after finishing at the bottom of the table in the previous season.
Foster will be part of a well-established coaching setup led by head coach Stephen Fleming, with Michael Hussey serving as batting coach and Eric Simons as bowling coach.

During his playing career, Foster represented England in international cricket across formats between 2001 and 2009. Post-retirement, he built a strong coaching profile, working with international teams and franchise leagues, including a title-winning stint in the ILT20 earlier this year. The move reflects CSK’s intent to rebuild and strengthen its backroom staff ahead of IPL 2026. With a fresh coaching approach and experienced personnel, the franchise will be aiming for a strong comeback in the upcoming season.
