Missile and Drone Attacks Target Dubai; Air Defences Intercept Threats Successfully

A series of missile and drone attacks reportedly targeted Dubai overnight, triggering sirens and panic among residents, while UAE defence forces confirmed successful interceptions, preventing casualties and major damage.

March 19 | Dubai: Tensions escalated in the United Arab Emirates as a fresh wave of missile and drone attacks, allegedly launched by Iran, targeted Dubai, creating panic among residents and prompting swift defensive action. The attacks continued through the night, with sirens blaring across the city and multiple explosions heard in several areas. By morning, loud blasts were reported in the popular Marina district, while at least six military helicopters were seen flying at low altitudes, intensifying concerns among civilians. Residents also received repeated alerts on their mobile phones, warning of incoming missile and drone threats and urging them to seek immediate shelter.

The UAE Ministry of Defence later clarified that the explosions were the result of its air defence systems intercepting incoming missiles, as well as fighter jets successfully neutralising drones mid-air. Officials confirmed that all interception operations were carried out effectively, with no immediate reports of casualties or significant damage.

The incident has once again raised concerns over regional security and the increasing use of aerial warfare tactics, including drones and guided missiles, in the ongoing tensions involving Iran. Authorities have urged citizens to remain calm and follow official safety advisories as a precautionary measure.
