Amid mounting criticism, State Agriculture Minister Dattatray Bharane defended Chakankar, arguing that public figures often attend events at the request of local representatives without knowing the true nature of individuals involved. He cautioned against drawing conclusions based solely on photographs.
However, leaders across parties have intensified their stance. Karuna Munde Sharma warned of a hunger strike if Chakankar is not removed, alleging that her association undermines justice for women. Similarly, Rupali Patil Thombre raised concerns over the integrity of the investigation, claiming that Chakankar’s continuation in office could impact evidence.
