Maharashtra Police Urged to Prepare for Evolving Cyber and Economic Crime Challenges

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis called on Maharashtra Police to strengthen readiness against cyber and financial crimes while highlighting their role in maintaining law, order, and supporting the state’s growth.
Mumbai | 29 April 2026: Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Monday emphasised the need for the Maharashtra Police to stay prepared for emerging challenges such as cyber and economic crimes, as the nature of criminal activity continues to evolve.
He was speaking at the closing ceremony of the 36th Maharashtra State Police Sports Meet held at Kalina in Mumbai, where several senior leaders and officials were present, including Ashish Shelar, Mangal Prabhat Lodha, and Pankaj Bhoyar.

Fadnavis noted that the Maharashtra Police is among the most professional and capable forces in the country, playing a crucial role in maintaining law and order as well as supporting the state’s industrial and economic progress. He added that policing today involves increasingly complex responsibilities, making continuous skill development and preparedness essential.
Highlighting the importance of physical fitness and teamwork, he said that sports events like these contribute significantly to building discipline, coordination, and resilience within the force.In the competition, the host Mumbai team secured the overall championship titles in both men’s and women’s categories. The Chief Minister felicitated the winners and participants who delivered notable performances in individual and team events.

Among standout achievements, Nikita Sandeep Khatal from Pune City set a new record in the women’s 100-metre race, while Chaitanya Santosh Marde from Kolhapur range established a new record in the men’s 100-metre event.Senior officials including Additional Director General of Police Madhukar Pandey delivered the introductory address, Director General of Police Sadanand Date shared his remarks, and Mumbai Police Commissioner Deven Bharti concluded the event with a vote of thanks.
