New Delhi | May 02, 2026:
Air India has announced a temporary reduction in its international flight operations, citing increasing fuel prices and ongoing airspace restrictions that have made several routes financially unviable. The airline confirmed that the curtailment will remain in effect until at least July 2026 as it works to stabilise operational efficiency.

The decision comes at a time when global aviation continues to face multiple challenges, including volatile fuel costs and geopolitical tensions affecting airspace access. These factors have significantly increased operational expenses for long-haul routes, particularly those that require diversions or longer flying times due to restricted zones.

Air India is expected to reduce frequencies on select international routes rather than completely suspend services. The airline is focusing on optimising capacity by prioritising routes that remain commercially viable while scaling back on those incurring higher costs. This approach is aimed at maintaining network stability without severely disrupting connectivity.

Passengers may experience changes in flight schedules and reduced seat availability on certain routes during this period. The airline has indicated that it will continue to monitor global conditions and may adjust its plans depending on improvements in fuel prices and easing of airspace limitations.

Industry experts note that such measures are becoming increasingly common as airlines worldwide adapt to fluctuating operating conditions. For Air India, the move reflects a strategic effort to balance cost pressures while ensuring continuity of service on key routes.

The airline has advised passengers to check updated schedules and stay informed about any changes to their travel plans. As the aviation sector navigates ongoing uncertainties, operational adjustments like these are expected to remain a key part of airline strategies in the near term.
