VADIGODRI| May 23, 2026: Escalating pressure on the state administration, Maratha agitation leader Manoj Jarange Patil on Friday issued a fresh warning following a high-stakes meeting with BJP MLA Prasad Lad at Antarwali Sarati. Jarange clarified that while doors for institutional dialogue remain open, the government must formally implement all resolution parameters within the next five days to avoid renewed public protests. He added that if the long-standing demands are met, the entire community would celebrate the decision of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
During the extensive discussions, MLA Lad presented the government’s official perspective, emphasizing that the current leadership maintains a highly positive stance toward providing sustainable reservation to the Maratha community. In a major political development to assure the activist, Lad went on record to state that he would resign from his legislative post if the state administration fails to resolve Jarange’s demands before the May 28 deadline. Lad expressed confidence that misunderstandings would be ironed out, adding that he plans to return to Antarwali Sarati on the designated date with a concrete resolution framework from the cabinet.

According to official briefings, Jarange’s core charter includes nine specific demands: immediate issuance of Kunbi caste certificates to all eligible Marathas in Marathwada before May 29, absolute withdrawal of all police cases registered against quota agitators, and the prompt revitalization of all economic welfare schemes under the Sarathi organization. Furthermore, the activist has demanded the immediate disbursement of pending financial corporation refunds, statutory validity certificates for newly registered Kunbi holders, the dissolution of the current cabinet sub-committee on Maratha reservation, and the establishment of an independent Kunbi and Maratha Ministry.
The charter also seeks a formal extension for the Shinde Committee to verify historical land records and guaranteed government employment for the families of individuals who lost their lives during the course of the agitation.
