A Pune resident has filed a complaint with the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) and the National Consumer Helpline after allegedly discovering fungus-covered cakes inside a sealed packet of The Health Factory Mini Cakes – Roasted Almonds purchased through Swiggy Instamart for his minor child.

According to the complainant, the product was well within its expiry date when it was opened. However, he claims the cakes contained visible fungal growth, raising concerns over food safety and product quality. The consumer stated that he immediately documented the issue by preserving photographs, videos, purchase invoices and email correspondence related to the incident.

The complainant further alleged that the manufacturer, Nutri Being Pvt. Ltd., acknowledged fungal contamination in certain products while attributing the issue to weather conditions and storage-related factors. He also claimed that the company initially offered replacement products before later proposing a payment of ₹5,000 on the condition that he remove his social media posts and withdraw the complaint. The consumer alleges that he rejected the offer and decided to pursue the matter through the appropriate regulatory authorities.

Seeking accountability, the complainant has demanded ₹1 lakh in compensation, citing alleged mental distress and the potential health risks posed to his minor child. He has requested that food safety authorities conduct a thorough investigation into the matter and ensure appropriate action if any violations are established.

The allegations have not been independently verified. At the time of publication, neither Nutri Being Pvt. Ltd. nor Swiggy Instamart had publicly responded to the specific allegations made by the complainant. The matter remains under the purview of the concerned authorities, and further developments are expected following their review of the complaint and supporting evidence.
