Maharashtra Government Includes Late Ajit Anantrao Pawar’s Birth Anniversary in Official State Commemorative Calendar

The Maharashtra Government has officially included the birth anniversary of Late Ajit Anantrao Pawar in the state’s commemorative calendar, directing government offices and educational institutions to observe the occasion annually on July 22.


The Maharashtra Government has officially included the birth anniversary of Late Ajit Anantrao Pawar in its list of state commemorative events, making July 22 an annual occasion to be observed across the state. The decision was announced through a circular issued by the General Administration Department (GAD), directing all government departments, semi-government bodies, educational institutions and local authorities to organise programmes marking the occasion.

According to the government circular, commemorative events will be held every year on July 22 to pay tribute to the late leader. Government and semi-government offices, schools, colleges and other public institutions have been instructed to organise floral tributes to the portrait of Late Ajit Anantrao Pawar and conduct programmes highlighting his contributions.

The circular further states that district administrations, government departments and concerned authorities must ensure effective implementation of the commemorative programmes within their respective jurisdictions. Necessary arrangements have been directed to be made in advance so that the observance is conducted uniformly across Maharashtra.

By including the birth anniversary in the official calendar of state commemorative events, the government has formalised its annual observance alongside other officially recognised occasions. The move is expected to result in coordinated programmes being organised across government establishments and educational institutions every year.

Officials said the objective of the directive is to ensure that the observance is conducted in a structured manner through government-led initiatives. Educational institutions are also expected to participate by organising suitable programmes in accordance with the government’s guidelines.

The circular has been circulated to all concerned administrative departments for compliance. Authorities have been instructed to make appropriate arrangements and monitor the implementation of the programmes to ensure the annual observance is carried out effectively.

With this notification, July 22 will now be officially observed across Maharashtra as the birth anniversary of Late Ajit Anantrao Pawar under the state’s approved list of commemorative events, with participation from government offices, semi-government organisations and educational institutions throughout the state.
