PMC Restarts ‘Road Mitra’ App, Pune Residents Can Report Potholes Again After Technical Glitch

The Pune Municipal Corporation has restored its ‘Road Mitra’ app after resolving technical issues, enabling citizens to once again report potholes, damaged roads, and urgent repair requirements directly to civic authorities.

With the monsoon worsening the condition of roads across Pune, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has resumed full operations of its ‘Road Mitra’ mobile application, offering much-needed relief to residents seeking prompt road repairs. The app, which had remained non-functional for nearly a month due to technical issues, became fully operational again from the night of July 13.

Launched under the Maharashtra Government’s 150-Day Action Programme, the Road Mitra app allows citizens to directly report potholes, damaged roads, and locations requiring immediate maintenance by uploading photographs along with the exact location. The complaints are forwarded to the concerned PMC department for necessary action.

The app had become unavailable just as the monsoon began, forcing residents to either visit ward offices to lodge complaints or raise issues through social media platforms. The disruption had drawn criticism as potholes and damaged roads increased across several parts of the city following continuous rainfall.

One of the app’s key features is its complaint tracking system, which enables users to monitor the status of their complaints and verify whether repair work has been completed. This is expected to improve transparency and accountability in road maintenance.

According to civic officials, the application receives an average of 100 to 125 complaints every day. With the service now restored, PMC’s regional offices are expected to prioritise pothole repairs more efficiently based on complaints submitted through the platform.

The civic body has appealed to residents to actively use the application whenever they notice potholes or damaged roads, helping authorities identify problem areas quickly and ensure timely repairs. Officials believe greater public participation through the app will contribute to safer roads and faster resolution of civic issues during the ongoing monsoon season.
