COAS reviews operational preparedness at Southern Command; felicitates veterans with Yoddha Seva Samman
General Dhiraj Seth reviewed operational preparedness at Southern Command Pune and felicitated veterans with the Yoddha Seva Samman.
Pune, August 31, 2026: Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Dhiraj Seth visited the Headquarters Southern Command in Pune and reviewed the Command’s operational preparedness and ongoing capability enhancement initiatives.
During the visit, General Seth was briefed by Lieutenant General Rajesh Pushkar, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Southern Command, on the prevailing operational environment, training initiatives and measures being undertaken to further strengthen the Army’s preparedness and capabilities.
Interacting with commanders and personnel, General Dhiraj Seth highlighted the importance of maintaining sustained operational readiness, adaptability and continuous capability development. He also emphasised technology adoption and the regular refinement of Techniques, Tactics and Procedures (TTPs) in line with the evolving nature of modern warfare.
The COAS stressed the need for realistic training, greater jointness and development of indigenous capabilities to build an agile, technologically empowered and future-ready force.
Commending the professionalism and dedication of personnel across ranks, General Seth called upon them to remain mission-focused, maintain high standards of operational readiness and continue strengthening the Command’s capabilities.
During his Pune visit, General Dhiraj Seth also felicitated distinguished veterans with the Yoddha Seva Samman. The honours recognised their contributions to veteran welfare, youth empowerment, environmental conservation and community service.
The COAS acknowledged the continued contributions of veterans to nation-building and highlighted the enduring association between the Indian Army and its veteran community.
