AHTU uncovered a prostitution racket operating from a Belapur spa, rescuing seven women including four Thai nationals, and arresting a female manager during a targeted crackdown.

April 16 | Navi Mumbai: In a significant action against human trafficking, the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) of Navi Mumbai Police busted a prostitution racket allegedly being run under the cover of a spa in the Belapur area. The operation resulted in the rescue of seven women, including four foreign nationals from Thailand, and the arrest of a female manager believed to be overseeing the illegal activities.
According to police officials, the raid was conducted following specific intelligence inputs about suspicious activities at the spa. Acting on the tip-off, a team from the AHTU carried out a planned operation, during which they found that the establishment was being used as a front for prostitution. Authorities stated that the rescued women were being exploited under the guise of employment in the wellness facility. The four Thai nationals are currently being verified for documentation and further legal procedures, while efforts are underway to identify the network involved in bringing them to India.
The arrested manager is suspected to have been coordinating operations, including arranging clients and managing transactions. Police officials indicated that further investigations are ongoing to trace other individuals linked to the racket, including possible handlers and customers. The AHTU has reiterated its commitment to cracking down on illegal activities masquerading as legitimate businesses, especially in urban areas where such rackets often operate discreetly. Officials added that strict action will be taken against those found involved in trafficking and exploitation.

The incident highlights growing concerns over the misuse of spa and wellness centres for unlawful activities, prompting authorities to step up surveillance and enforcement across Navi Mumbai.
