Thousands of Litres of Drinking Water Wasted as Hadapsar Tank Continues to Leak

A leaking water tank in Hadapsar’s 15 Number area is reportedly wasting thousands of litres of drinking water, prompting residents to question PMC action.

Pune, September 15, 2026: Thousands of litres of drinking water are reportedly being wasted every day due to a continuous leak from a large water tank in Hadapsar’s 15 Number area, raising concerns among local residents over the lack of timely civic intervention.

The leaking tank is located near the Ganganagar-Gangadham crematorium and Bankar School. Water has reportedly been flowing out of the tank continuously, resulting in a significant amount of treated drinking water being lost.

The wastage comes at a time when several areas of Hadapsar continue to face concerns related to drinking water supply. Residents have questioned why a leak involving such a large quantity of water has not been addressed promptly.

Residents Raise Questions Over PMC Response

Local residents have expressed concern over the continued loss of drinking water and have urged the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) to take immediate corrective action.

Residents say the issue is particularly concerning because water supply remains an important challenge in several parts of Hadapsar. The continuous leakage from a major storage facility has therefore led to questions about maintenance and monitoring of civic water infrastructure.

The incident has also renewed concerns about water conservation and the need for regular inspection of tanks, pipelines and other components of the city’s water distribution network.

Drinking Water Going to Waste

The water flowing from the tank is reportedly entering the surrounding area instead of reaching residents through the distribution system.
