The makers of the upcoming courtroom drama Prahaar – The Ujjwal Nikam Story have unveiled a gripping teaser that has quickly become the talk of the entertainment industry. While the film focuses on the life and career of renowned public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam, it is actor Lalit Prabhakar’s startling transformation into 26/11 Mumbai terror attack convict Ajmal Kasab that has left audiences surprised.
The teaser offers a glimpse into one of India’s most significant legal battles, highlighting the prosecution that followed the devastating Mumbai terror attacks of November 2008. Rajkummar Rao takes on the role of Ujjwal Nikam, the prosecutor who led the case against Kasab and played a crucial role in securing justice after the attacks that shook the nation.
Lalit Prabhakar appears almost unrecognizable in the brief footage released by the makers. His appearance, expressions and mannerisms have been carefully designed to resemble Kasab, drawing strong reactions from viewers online. Many social media users praised the actor’s commitment to the role, calling the transformation one of the most striking character makeovers seen in recent Hindi cinema.
Directed by Avinash Arun and produced by Maddock Films, the movie aims to present the legal proceedings and challenges faced during the high-profile trial. The film is expected to delve into the professional journey of Nikam while also revisiting the events that led to one of the most closely watched court cases in India’s history.

Apart from Rajkummar Rao and Lalit Prabhakar, the film features Wamiqa Gabbi, Jaideep Ahlawat and Sikander Kher in pivotal roles. With its combination of historical significance, courtroom drama and powerful performances, Prahaar is already generating considerable anticipation ahead of its theatrical release.
The film is scheduled to hit cinemas on August 7, 2026, and is expected to be among the most discussed Bollywood releases of the year.
