The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) carried out a special anti-encroachment drive across various parts of the city, removing 35 unauthorized stalls located near schools and colleges. The civic action was undertaken as part of an initiative to improve public safety, ensure smooth pedestrian movement, and maintain a secure environment around educational institutions.

The operation was conducted by PCMC’s encroachment removal department in coordination with the local police and other civic officials. Teams visited multiple locations where roadside vendors and temporary stalls had allegedly occupied public spaces, creating obstructions for students, parents, and commuters.

According to civic officials, the drive primarily focused on areas surrounding schools and colleges where illegal stalls had been operating without the required permissions. Authorities stated that such encroachments not only hinder traffic movement but also pose safety concerns due to congestion near educational campuses.

During the operation, officials removed 35 unauthorized stalls and cleared footpaths and adjoining public spaces. The civic body reiterated that public roads and footpaths are meant for safe movement and cannot be occupied without permission. Officials also appealed to vendors to comply with municipal regulations and avoid setting up businesses in prohibited zones.

PCMC has been conducting regular anti-encroachment campaigns across the city as part of its broader efforts to improve urban infrastructure, streamline traffic movement, and enhance public convenience. Civic authorities said similar enforcement drives will continue in the coming weeks, particularly in areas witnessing repeated violations.

The corporation also urged citizens to cooperate with civic authorities and report unauthorized encroachments that obstruct roads, footpaths, or public spaces. Officials maintained that sustained enforcement is essential to creating safer and more organized urban spaces, especially around educational institutions where the safety of children and young adults remains a priority.

The municipal administration has reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining public order and ensuring that roads and pedestrian pathways remain free from illegal occupations through continuous monitoring and periodic enforcement drives.
