In a significant administrative overhaul, the Maharashtra government has announced large-scale transfers and promotions of senior IPS officers, triggering major changes across the state police force. The reshuffle includes several high-profile appointments in Mumbai, Pune, Nashik, Kolhapur and anti-terror agencies.
Among the prominent changes, senior IPS officer Krishna Prakash has been appointed as Additional Director General of Police in the Training Department, placing him in charge of one of the state’s most crucial police training wings. Meanwhile, IPS officer Tejaswi Satpute has been promoted and appointed as Additional Commissioner of Police in Pune’s Crime Branch. Reports also indicate that Satpute is expected to continue supervising the ongoing SIT investigation in the high-profile Ashok Kharat case.
The reshuffle also brought major changes in Mumbai Police leadership. Manoj Kumar Sharma has been appointed as Joint Commissioner of Police (Law and Order), while Anil Kumbhare will head Mumbai Crime Branch as Joint Commissioner. Suvez Haque has been shifted to Mumbai Police Administration, and Satyanarayan Chaudhary will take charge as Joint Commissioner of Traffic Police. Rajesh Pradhan has been assigned responsibility for the Economic Offences Wing.
In Pune, Sanjay Darade has been appointed as the city’s new Joint Commissioner of Police, while former Pune Joint CP Ranjankumar Sharma has been transferred as Special Inspector General of Police for the Kolhapur Range. Paramjit Dahiya has been moved to the Anti-Terrorism Squad as Special IG, and Lakshmi Gautam has been assigned to the Law and Order division.

Reports suggest that more than 24 IPS officers and dozens of senior state police officials were part of the reshuffle, making it one of the biggest administrative changes in Maharashtra Police in recent months. Officials believe the move is aimed at strengthening law enforcement, streamlining administration and improving operational efficiency across the state.
The transfers have generated significant discussion in political and administrative circles, especially due to the strategic postings in sensitive departments such as crime investigation, ATS, economic offences and law and order management.
