The Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation has officially acquired 34.36 hectares of government land in Shenda Park to accelerate the construction of Kolhapur’s long-awaited Information Technology park

May 29, 2026 | Kolhapur: The technological and industrial landscape of Western Maharashtra has received a major boost following the formal handover of land for the proposed Kolhapur Information Technology Park. In a milestone development, the Revenue Department has officially transferred 34.36 hectares of government land located at Shenda Park (Kasba Karveer) to the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) to facilitate immediate infrastructure development.

The transition process gained momentum after the Revenue and Forest Department granted official approval for the land allotment on March 13. Aligning with statutory financial protocols, MIDC deposited the state-evaluated agricultural market value of ₹5.60 crores into the government treasury on March 30. Following this clearance, the District Collector issued the formal land transfer directives on April 2, paving the way for the physical transition of the property.

Following a comprehensive site survey and land demarcation process, Additional District Collector Sanjay Shinde and Karveer Tehsildar Swapnil Pawar formally executed the physical handover of the designated territory. The site possession was received on behalf of the industrial corporation by MIDC Regional Officer Umesh Deshmukh and Executive Engineer Irappa Naik.

The regional tech ecosystem has erupted in celebration over this swift administrative transition. Representatives of the local tech industry expressed deep gratitude toward the state government, public representatives, and administrative machinery for bypassing red tape to expedite the project. Industry leaders emphasized that with the land acquisition hurdles officially cleared, the region is well on its way to establishing itself as the next major growth engine for Maharashtra’s booming IT sector, promising massive job creation and localized digital innovation.
