A comprehensive inspection of monsoon-affected areas in Pune’s Vadgaonsheri Assembly constituency was carried out under the guidance of MLA Sunil Tingre to review waterlogging issues, incomplete stormwater drainage projects and civic infrastructure affected by the ongoing monsoon.

The inspection followed concerns raised during a meeting of the Pune Municipal Corporation’s Standing Committee regarding persistent flooding and delays in drainage-related works. Senior civic officials visited several locations to assess the situation on the ground and identify measures to address recurring monsoon-related problems.

The inspection covered key areas including Agresar School, Commerzone, Khese Park, Kalwad, Esterlia Society, Elemento Society, Porwal Road, Lohgaon and Dhanori, where officials reviewed waterlogging spots, stormwater drainage networks and the progress of ongoing civic works.

Among those present during the inspection were City Engineer Aniruddha Pawaskar, Chief Engineer (Projects and Drainage) Gojare, corporator Ravi Tingre, Haribhakt and other officials from the Pune Municipal Corporation. Detailed discussions were held with engineers and contractors regarding delayed projects, drainage improvements and quality standards.

Special attention was given to Dhanori, where officials noted serious deficiencies in the execution of certain drainage works. Contractors were directed to immediately rectify defective work and complete the projects in accordance with prescribed technical standards. Authorities emphasized that no compromise on construction quality would be tolerated.

The inspection also highlighted recurring flooding in the Parande Nagar area along the Vishrantwadi–Dhanori Road. Despite nearly ₹54 crore being spent under the Storm Water Management project in 2022, officials observed that the area continues to experience severe waterlogging during the monsoon. Strong dissatisfaction was expressed over the lack of expected results.

Officials were instructed to conduct a detailed inquiry into the implementation of the project and initiate strict administrative action against any officials, contractors or individuals found responsible for lapses. Authorities stated that misuse of public funds would not be overlooked.

The civic administration has also been directed to implement immediate measures to minimise inconvenience to residents during the monsoon. Officials assured that infrastructure projects across the Vadgaonsheri constituency would continue to be closely monitored to ensure timely completion and improved public services.
