Mystery Deepens After Multiple Deaths Reported In Pimpri-Chinchwad’s Phugewadi Area

The sudden deaths of multiple residents from Phugewadi in a single day triggered panic across Pimpri-Chinchwad, with police launching an investigation amid speculation surrounding illicit liquor consumption.

A sense of fear and confusion spread across Pimpri-Chinchwad after multiple deaths were reported from the Phugewadi area within a single day, prompting police to initiate a detailed investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

According to local reports, news of the deaths quickly spread across the locality near the Pune-Mumbai highway, leading to tension among residents. A condolence board displayed at Azad Chowk reportedly listed the names of the deceased and informed locals about the funeral procession arrangements, bringing the incident into public attention.

The deceased were identified as Pandurang Phuge, Vijay Rathod, Rajendra Rathod, Rajendra Rajput and Akbar Pathan, while some reports also mentioned additional individuals undergoing treatment at hospitals. Preliminary discussions in the locality suggested possible causes ranging from heart attacks to suspected consumption of illicit liquor.

Residents alleged that illegal country liquor dens were operating in parts of the area near the railway line and crematorium zone, sparking speculation that toxic or adulterated alcohol could be linked to the deaths. However, police officials stated that no official confirmation has yet established a connection between the fatalities and spurious liquor consumption.

Following growing discussions on social media and public concern, teams from the Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissionerate and Dapodi Police visited the locality and began questioning residents while inspecting locations connected to the deaths. Officials indicated that the exact causes would become clearer only after post-mortem and medical examination reports are received.

Police sources also stated that some of the deaths may have resulted from unrelated medical conditions, though authorities continue to investigate every angle before reaching any conclusion. Senior officers said the probe remains underway and further clarity is expected in the coming days.
